and to add on top of it above, check this video on what is it all about with ridiculous recent UA behaviour:
OUN UPA were Nazi collaborators and murderers. The UA is trying to make it symmetrical which is laughable. OUN UPA murdered 100.000 civilians in cooperation with the Nazis: mostly Poles, but also Jews, Slovaks, Ruthenians, Hungarians. They claim they were "the warriors against Soviets" sure... they killed up to 8.000 Soviets. They claim that Polish Home Army was doing the same to Ukrainians. But the fact is that it was absolutely marginal reaction from some minor troops at that time as a revenge. And... it is taught in Polish schools and condemned.
They claim that Pilsudski was terrorizing them, but in fact Pilsudski had agreement with new Ukraine after 1918 and liberated Kyiv with Petlura (Ukrainian) army. Ukrainians fecked it over and then decided to create a new country with Belarus and russia --> the USSR.
They are picking only bits of history which are comfortably matching their current narration, but that works internally only as all other involved have it all well documented and it is a known fact they cannot dispute. The exhumations for example, which are not allowed in general to be done by the Polish archeologists would simply prove the scale of atrocities they did when they were working with Nazis to cleanse the Eastern Poland (for over 1000 years Polish), nowadays Western Ukraine (around 100years Ukrainian including post WW2 time) from the Poles and Jews.
Imagine if Poles who were pushed by Stalin to the West would decide to slaughter all the German population there as how Ukrainians were doing in the lands lost in the East.
I have some personal view on it too as my great grandfather was from the land now being Ukraine and which never been Ukraine in the past. They changed centuries old names of the towns too to erase the memory of what towns those were originally built and inhabited by. Examples: Lwów -> Lviv, Stanisławów -> Ivano-Frankivsk, Krystynopol -> Sheptytskyi.
Surely there are many people having sentiment to those lands, I moved on.
It is absolutely disgusting when Ukrainians are claiming that Polish heritage of the lands like castles and palaces are Ukrainian (and at the same time claiming that the ones who built them were the "Polish oppressors"). It would be same hilarious if Poles would claim Wroclaw architecture (former Breslau - two names were functioning for centuries) is Polish heritage xD. But they are in process of erasing that history started by the Soviets. So the castles from the former Kingdom of Poland borderlands are now being claimed by them to be "the Ukrainian culture examples", examples below - try to find any similarity to the Ukrainian style:
Lwów was called "little Kraków" not only architecturally but culturally. Whoever was in Kraków and have seen also Lwów will know what I mean exactly. People from Lwów were displaced by Soviets to Wrocław (including full institutions like University), and Wrocław/Breslau citizens were pushed out to Germany.
It is complicated and difficult topic. What stands out that Poles and Germans could get into agreement and live like civilized neighbours back again, but Ukrainians are acting maggot and do not want to admit and recognize the history of those lands.
