I must say it does irritate me when you are in the queue waiting for your turn and a random taxi driver just stops for someone who isnt even in the queue.
They don't actually refuse per seeeyyy I see what you did there!Anyone who refuses you wouldn’t have a leg to stand on
Id say if a driver doesnt have a school run or HSE run you will struggle. We’re coming into a situation where we’ve another shortage of taxi driver I feel. Especially at night it’s a lot of hassle. The numbers of locals driving cabs seems to be on the decline, not that I’ve any problem at all with non local drivers. I think the industry should be reformed. Have 2 or 3 companies who own the cabs and employ the drivers directly. Pay them a salary and have them on shift work. It may attract more drivers in by eliminating their costs which are massive. Not sure if drivers would welcome it though.

True. I think having drivers owing their own cabs is punitive. Their cost of doing business is significant between taxi licence, PSV licence, meter cost, meter calibration etc. centralising those costs and leaving the driver just drive would be a better way in my opinion. Even if the City Council took it over. It would be a much better way of providing a vital public service.Id say if a driver doesnt have a school run or HSE run you will struggle.
Friend of mine bought into taxi coop, He says the accounts they have justify doing so.True. I think having drivers owing their own cabs is punitive. The Cork lads did a slow drive past MM office last week,Not much sympathy going around for these people.
They don't like Uber giving consumers the option to not be ripped off, so taxi drivers respond by blocking up Dublin during rush hour.
Good to see the Cork drivers had more sense.
