Luke Merrigan just missed qualification for the 1500 final. Came 7th with 6 going through. There's no "fastest losers" slots in the final, so it means all the races are for postion - i.e., lads crawling and elbowing the shite out of each other for 1200m then a mad dustup for the line. He was too far back when the dustup came, got dropped and then spent the rest of the race getting back up to the business end. I'd say the elbowing was at a level he wasn't used to. Charlie O'Neill qualified handy enough from the other semi.
