No discussion of religion and/or politics in the pub thread please. Now. Everything is very dear. Places are shit. Places are good.

Walked past the former Gateway/Barbarella on my way to work. Fit-out still going on. Noticed that it's going to be called The Old Bear. The Old Bear. What's wrong with The Gateway?

Haven't heard of The Clockworks at all, Carmy. I'll check them out myself.

    Live at the Marquee 24

See if you can get through the first 5 minutes of his last Netflix special. I'll bet that you can't.

    Live at the Marquee 24

One of America's unfunniest comedians, Theo Von, has been announced for the Marquee. Jeff Foxworthy for the social media generation. Christ almighty. The fucking state of it.

    Springsteen down the Park !

No, Nolly. I'm saying that Bruce brings out the best gig goers in the country. And that they like American things.

Sprints are dead good. I should have gotten a ticket for that gig in Coughlan's but I waited too long. Missed out. On a similar note, there's a few solid upcoming Irish bands playing Coughlan's in the near and distant future; The Drive (this weekend), Gurriers (in November).

Yep. It's B. McCabe alright but Frank (ex. Cask and the long lamented Hugenot Bistrot) is front and centre as the head honcho/sommelier. Frank is a legend when it comes to wine - incredibly knowledgeable and intense but he carries it all off without being a cunt.* You won't get higher praise...

    Springsteen down the Park !

The South Mall is jammed with discarded ponchos And plastic cups that once held Coors Light.

    Springsteen down the Park !

A lot of them do it - especially artists who've have released 20 plus records - Jagger, Bono, etc. Axl Rose was using them in 1991 when Guns N' Roses only had 3 albums out. 8-balls must be bad for the memory. Springsteen also switches up (or used to anyway) his set list often playing requests...

Slovakia is in the doghouse ... notice anything?

Hopefully he'll pull through. He was one of my favourite footballers back when I was growing up. The White Pelé they used to call him.

    Springsteen down the Park !

Bruce drinks in Mok's when he comes to Cork. Or, at least, he did until they stopped giving him the pensioner's pint price. Sure "Darkness On The Edge Of Town" was originally called "Good Friday In The Harp Bar".
