Jesus lads, 'tis looking like BREXIT!

It's already the case for the City of London, which has been run by the City of London Corporation with a history that goes back over a thousand years

Business can vote in elections in the City of London, as of 2009, it was 24,000 of them, significantly outweighing people. The number of votes they get is dependent on how many people they employ, 2 votes if you employ 10, the highest is 75+
It has multiple billions of cash reserves, which is nice for them.

You can't be elected to office unless you're a freeman of the City of London. To qualify to be a freeman, you have to be approved by the aldermen.

It has wide ranging powers over financial institutions, and the financial conduct authority devolves some of its powers to it.

It even has a role in the House of Commons called the "City Remembrancer", whose job is to sit behind the Speaker's chair and remind the speaker that the City of London must be protected.

The more you look at the UK's institutions, the more mental it looks.
The whole thing ia all a bit Harry Potter style fantasy stuff from the Royal family downwards.

All to keep the plebs in their place and all the big jobs and cash for the elite of course.

When you're less than 1% behind the Tories and you own the party (as Reform are a private company, Reform UK Party Limited, https://find-and-update.company-information.service.gov.uk/company/11694875) what's the point in handing over control to the Tories?

It'd be the ultimate right wing move for a private limited company to take over the UK if they were to ever get that big.
It would be simply hilarious if it happened as Reform UK just want a much harder Brexit as the current one is just not disasterous or hard enough.

The Tories have basically won one of their two mayoralties. They'll cling onto that for dear life.

It is worth reiterating though the scale of Ben Houchen's previous win, he got 73% of the vote which is a crazy high vote share. Could lose 20 points and still win it comfortably.

Happy enough with the result locally for me. The last Tory has been ousted from the local council.
Is Rishi just run by AI now or is he 100% robot?

The man is actually nothing and speaks absolute robotic tosh soundbites.

Rishi Sunak hails "the first failed asylum seeker off to Rwanda" this week.

He doesn't mention that the guy went voluntarily, with £3,000 in his pocket and with his bed and board paid for the next 5 years by the UK government.
