Brian Corcoran Moments

Tribute to Brian Corcoran - post your respect and memories here

Fr. Turncoat
For me the sweetest moment was not during a match, but just after the All-Ireland in 2004 when he was being interviewed for RTE. He was exuberant and truely delighted, and he finished off the interview with a clenched fist raised shouting -
'Up da rebels!' Fantastic! A true Cork hurling legend.

StevieG
Seeing the Cardboard cut-outs of him being held aloft after yet another victory a few years ago!

For me....it was the point he scored while he was on his knees....I think it was early on into his inter-county comeback....pure class!

An Madra Rua
The end of last year's Ireland final. The man was flahed to the last but he knocked over a point and proceeded to leap around like a mad thing! A true legend.

The moment that always makes me smile is the 04 final against Kilkenny when the game was already over and he chased a ball he had no business winning and gained possesion on the sideline and soloed it out a few yards before swinging it over form an acute angle, it was magic, the crowd went mental.

Destroying Tipp' pat fox in his senior debut in 1992.

NorthMallExile
The 2 goals he put past Antrim in the 2004 All-Ireland Q-F after that gobshite Dinny Cahill (Antrim manager) wrote him off. And the glint in his eye after the first.

Pheas
His point off his left over his shoulder from the sideline in injury time against Imokilly in the CSHC semi about 5 years ago. It was a few minutes into injury time and it leveled the game. He came up from full back to knock it over.

My two abiding memories of Corcoran are both from '92: The county final where he turned it on in the second half and won the match on his own (9 points from play I think), and the All-Ireland final against Kilkenny, where he played corner-back. Even though we were well beaten, at age 19 he was our outstanding player on the day. A true legend in a sporting world of cheats and prima donnas.

Thanks for the memories Brian, a true great of Cork Hurling, you took a chance not many people would have and we're 2 All Irelands better off because of it. A proper legend of modern hurling

MonTheHoops
His first retirement came way too early. There wasn't a defender like him in the country in his prime. An absolute 100% bona fide Cork legend, no doubt about it.
No slouch as a footballer either.

Up for the Ba
I only saw bits of Jimmy Barry Murphy, he retired from the Cork scene when I was about 8. DJ Carey and as already mentioned, Brian Whelehan were immense hurlers too in their own right, but for me, Corcoran is without doubt the best hurler I have seen in the flesh. His supremecy in `99 was a joy to behold, such a shame for the player himself that he was only part of 3 All Ireland winning teams, he deserved more

Lamps
With that long hair and a beard after his county final one man show in 92 he was being likened to George Best. A lot of people who have only really seen him from 99 to now and don't realise what a mobile and skillful player he was back then.
Without a doubt the most iconic since JBM, for all Sean ”g's merits he isn't in Corcoran's league.
