CCFC V Bluebell Utd
1st Jun 2010
Cork City boss Tommy Dunne will have to plan without Cathal Lordan for Friday nights FAI Cup third round match against Bluebell United. The midfielder injured his knee in training last week and is due to have a scan on the problem this week. Otherwise, Dunne has a full squad to chose from following Gearóid Morrisseys return from a groin injury against Athlone Town.
The Cup tie against Bluebell Utd this Friday at Turners Cross June 4th at 7.45pm will provide a welcome distraction for the Rebel Army who only have one league game - away to Mervue United - remaining before the summer break. The gaffer is aiming for victory in both matches, results he believes will allow everyone enjoy their short rest.
Were
looking forward to the game, the Dubliner said. The Cup always brings
a little bit of spice to it and were hoping to get a good, positive result.
Bluebell are second in the Leinster Senior League so they will be a really tough
team to play against.

They have some big, strong players and a few players that are experienced at that level so it will be a difficult game for us. For them coming to Cork and playing Cork City at Turners Cross is a nice game. They will be well up for it, so well have to match their enthusiasm, will and desire from the very start.
Hopefully, well be just that bit stronger in the game itself and if we have one or two better players on the pitch, it can make a difference for us. Theres no real pressure so we can just get out and enjoy ourselves.
The summer break will do two things for Dunne's squad - it will allow the players take a well-deserved rest as well as giving management time to finalise a couple of signings, most of whom are likely to be available for action before the end of the month.
The break will give us a chance to recharge batteries and refocus on certain things, getting players fresh and getting some new faces in. We need to try and win these two matches and it would set us up nicely for the second half of the season.
The Munster Senior League lads are available now but there are a couple who are still involved with the Cup themselves. Most of them will be available to us for the Limerick game and were hoping that we can bring in a few players between now and then.
