And finally the summer is upon us! Long evenings, a life after work… and what better way to spend one of those summer evenings than in Club Daonphoblacht.

Club DP is back with the renowned Compántas Chorcaí, featuring a one man drama with Gerry Motherway in ‘ In High Germany’. Gerry has toured the country with his fellow members, producer Liam Mac An Mhaoir and recently won 3 gradam in the All Ireland Drama festival in Limerick. Compántas Chorcaí was founded in the 1950s and is one of the oldest amateur drama company in Cork.

Once filling the Everyman to capacity with their Christmas Pantos, Compántas Chorcaí now has only 4 members and has taken to the road to perform at festivals all over the country and to keep the spirit of the company alive.

Proud of their innumerable achievements, actor Gerry Motherway invites anyone interested in drama and acting, young or old, to join them and be involved in what he calls ‘one of the most satisfying experiences’ one can have.

To keep the ceol lively and the feet a-tapping, we introduce ‘Splanc’, a trad band that some will no doubt be familiar with, playing to the regulars in the Gables every Wednesday night. This Wednesday night they are happy to grace us with their presence leaving a definite hole in the line up of the Gables!
