Tar éis na chéad oíche a bhí againn ar an 13ú Feabhra leis an bhfear grinn den scoth Des Bishop, tá an réabhlóid tar éis tosnú i ndáiríre! Tá Club Daon-Phoblacht ar ais is iad ag geallúint oíche eile lán de chraic, cheol agus cháca milis dúinn, le cuairteoir speisialta a thagann as ár bpoblacht féin cois Laoi.
Measann an corcaíoch John Spillane, duine des na ceoltóirí agus scríbhneoirí amhrán is fearr sa tír, go bhfuil Corcaigh mar ‘chroílár na cruinne’, agus nach é sin an fhírinne ghlan?!
Chaith John seacht mbliana ag seinnt leis an ngrúpa Corcaíoch ‘The Stargazers’, agus ina dhiaidh sin, shiúil sé an domhan leis an ngrúpa cáiliúil Nomos ar feadh cúig bliana.
D’athraigh sé a threo ansin agus b’shin an uair gur chuir sé tús lena ghairm bheatha fhíorráthúil is é ag seinnt ina aonar. Tá sé tar éis ceithre album a chur amach, Will We Be Famous Or What? agus Hey Dreamer ina measc. Comhoibríonn sé leis an bhfile Louis de Paor is iad ag plé leis an Gaelic Hit Factory, a bhuaigh Comórtas Réalta R na G fé dhó.
Má éisteann tú le RnaG gach Domhnach idir a 9 agus a 11, cloisfidh tú John ag caitheamh na bport is na n-amhrán amach i dtreo lucht éisteachta R na G. Bíonn a ‘rogha’ féin aige mar a déarfá! Agus é tógaint sos beag ón saol gnóthach seo, beidh John Spillane inár dteannta ar an 2ú Aibreán i gcomhair ceoil agus comluadair den chéad scoth.
Bígí Linn! Fáilte roimh gach éinne!
After a rip-roaring launch night featuring none other than legendary comedian Des Bishop, Club Daon-Phoblacht returns with another night of craic, ceol agus cáca milis, with a special guest coming to us from our very own Leeside Republic.
John Spillane, one of the country’s best known singer songwriters and RnaG broadcasters, describes Cork as 'the centre of the universe' agus nach bhfuil an ceart aige?!
Having spent seven years playing with Cork based band ‘The Stargazers’, he toured the world for five years with trad giants Nomos, before embarking on an extremely successful solo career which has spanned four hugely successful albums, including 'Will We Be Brilliant Or What?'and ‘Hey Dreamer’ among others.
Working with the artist and poet Louis de Paor, the Gaelic Hit Factory became the name for their collaborations, winning the prestigious Réalta 2001 Irish song contest. If you tune into RnaG on a Sunday night between 9 and 11pm, you will hear John reeling out the tunes, a ‘rogha’ féin, mar a déarfá!
Taking a sos beag from his busy life of writing, performing, producing, and winning national and international acclaim for some of his many talents, John Spillane will grace us with his presence at Club Daonphoblacht on the 2nd April for some cracking ceol agus lively comhrá.
Bígí linn!
