Cork 29 Kilkenny 28

All Ireland Senior Hurling Final 2004

Cork 0-17
Kilkenny 0-9

Congratulations if you manage to log on this morning. All over the world Corkonians are waking up with pulsating heads, swirling stomachs and hot and cold sweats. Its ok though. We're All Ireland Champions again! Daaaaycinnnt!!!

The gallant efforts of our boys at Croke Park yesterday puts us firmly back on top as the number one hurling county. We now have 29 titles with Kilkenny lagging behind on 28.

Along with being the number one county in general this accolade is a welcome boost for the Capital of Culture highlighting Cork as the home of the finest exponents of Gaelic Games.

The heartbreak of last year's loss ensured the Cats would be spared no embarrassment this year. Their narrow three point margin last year faded into insignificance as Cork mangled them this year by a colossal eight points the final insult coming from full forward power house Brian Corcoran.

We must spare a thought for the losers though. Imagine the heartache of being so close to an historic three-in-a-row only to be denied by your biggest rivals. Yeah must be tough but bollocks to sympathy and diplomacy for now they were shite on the day compared to Cork and only too happy to rub it in last year.

The flattened cats who failed to reach double figures must now start all over again. They must spend the next few months acknowledging our greatness, lowering their heads any time the final is mentioned and bless themselves when they hear the name Donal O'Grady. For you my dear man are our saviour, our beacon and guiding light. Let us bow our heads and worship at the chapel of Donal O'Grady.

By the way don't mind yer All Star ceremony this year in Dublin. Rent out Jurys or the Imperial or somewhere and just call out the Cork team that started yesterday and hand over the prizes.

Nah nah nah nah nah!
