Bottling Plants May Move to Dublin

In what seems like a counterproductive result for Leeside at the weekend, Cork drinks companies may consider moving their bottling plants to Dublin in light of the great National League Football final victory for the Rebels at Croke Park on Sunday.

Cork’s Tanora tasting experts have acknowledged that packaging their favourite tipple is extremely important to taste and that the manufacturing of the bottle is an integral part of the flavour.

Dublin is the bottling capital of Ireland so Irish companies may be
tempted to produce their products in the Pale

Looking at the game in Croke Park on Sunday it is clear that the Dubs are top of the pile when it comes to bottling it so it’ll be hard for companies to resist the move.

Just when the entire country thought The Pale might finally put a cork in their traditionally terrible second half collapses the Dubs spilled an eight point second half lead to eventually lose to a rampant Rebel side who, at times, looked like they were only in third gear.

In a repeat of last August’s showdown Dublin thought they had gripped Cork tightly by the neck but their grasp eventually slipped and instead of putting their own cap on proceedings their bottle was jammed shut with a far more watertight Cork. With a stopper this good not a drop of silverware was ever going to leak north.

The scene at Dollymount Strand in Dublin earlier this morning

Even at half time Dublin’s taunting of Cork captain Michael Shields as players poured into the dressing rooms seemed like throwing stones in a glass house - this one came back to haunt them too.

Their physical intimidation backfired spectacularly as Michael Shields stood up to the Dub’s brazen behaviour and drove his side on to outperform the Dubs in the following thirty-five minutes.

If there’s any good news for the clapped-out Jackeens it is that they can bring their bottle to the recycling bin where it will eventually be turned into a new product: another bottle ready to be corked!
