PROC's Top 5 Must-See Cork xSW Acts
The Cork xSW festival website has youtube clips for most artists but if you don't have time to wade through them all don't wet yourself. Every langer has an opinion so here's ours...
1. Balkan Beat Box
Frantic balkan gypsy hip-hop madness tailor made for summer festivals
|
2. Avatar
Fat Freddys Drop-esque Irish reggae/jazz group. If the sun shines when this lot are playing it may be the festival's climax...roll 'em up in advance.
|
3. Fred
Every festival should by law have a Fred gig. Just about to release their brand new album the Cork fivesome are to festivals like matches are to bonnas.
|
4. Sean Taylor
A great growling singer-songwriter and deft guitarist from London.
|
5. Michael McGoldrick Trio
Upbeat traditional Irish ceol without any cringing misty-eyed throat-clearing turf-eating plastic tat and plenty of bouncy sandal stomping celtic soul.
|
Outside Bet: Alex Krygier
We haven't seen this lively Argentinian crowd and their swirly clarinet hooks live but are certainly worth a look in.
|
Plus VIBRATIONS Eco Zone featuring a huge array of fun things to do throughout the grounds and woods of Liss Ard.
The central feature, Áras na Móna, a traditional turf house, will host performances from musicians, comedians and speakers celebrating Irish culture and heritage.
The magical land of ‘Tír na bPáistí’, a childrens’ area in the theme of Tír na nÓg, will amuse and amaze young and old while the Vibrations Bandstand will host acoustic music and spoken word performances.
Posh: Liss Ard is on the Castletownsend just south of Skibbereen. |
