David Drumm Delay Tactic #25: Business Studies Was Taught Badly in School

Shamed business man and former Anglo Irish big wig David Drumm has failed again in his latest attempt to prevent his extradition to Ireland for dodgy dealings and unpaid debts. Rumours suggest the Dub’s next step may try to prove that business studies were ‘taught badly in school’ in a desperate attempt to prevent his forced repatriation to the auld sod.

He been residing in U.S. for several years after making a bolt for it with his family before the sudden collapse of Anglo but is now the subject of an extradition application made by An Garda Síochána who are waiting to press over 30 charges relating to “hidden loans” taken out by the banker to buy shares in his own bank.

At this stage Drumm appears to have finally exhausted every available get-out clause and delay tactic available having had his bankruptcy appeal application overturned by a U.S. judge earlier this week.

One of Ireland's Top Ten 'Recession Cunts'

Drumm still owes Anglo Irish bank, now IBRC, over €10 million – money effectively owed to Cork taxpayers and others who paid for the failed institution - but refuses to pay because he says doesn’t have enough money. The court says he pulled, what might be known in Farranree as a “dinky doo” and transferred lots of assets to his wife’s name to pretend he didn’t have the money to repay us.

In an embarrassing dressing down of Mr. Drumm in the original judgment refusing the Dubliner a facility to write off millions in debts Boston Judge Frank Bailey described the Dubliner as “not remotely credible”.  His appeal against this judgement failed last Monday and he continues to languish in a Massachusetts prison pending his extradition hearing.

Among the excuses so far believed to have been given by Mr. Drumm as reasons for his refusal to return to Ireland or repay the money to taxpayers are:

- I give all my millions to my wife so ask her.
- I get really chesty with the damp Irish climate and might catch my death over there.
- Even Joe Duffy says Dublin is an “unadulterated kip” and forcing me to return there would be against my human rights.
- The dog ate it.
- I’m up the walls making millions and I don’t have the time.
- Coz dats why.

Perhaps now that the number of Drumm’s excuses to return home are into double figures he might as well try a new appeal to the U.S. courts claiming business studies was ‘taught badly in school’ and that the Irish authorities should instead consider pursuing his 91-year-old first year maths teacher for the €10.5 million he owes us.

CLASH OF THE TRASH
A short distance from the Boston courtroom where Drumm has been repeatedly humiliated and shamed, Galway and Dublin hurlers played a showcase game in front of a crowd of 30,000 at Fenway Park – home of the Boston Red Sox – a baseball team who play in the Cork colours.

For those unaware of the sport, baseball is an American game invented for lads too lazy to play hurling who like standing around in large fields for hours on end.

Oh the shame.

Embarrassingly the ‘clash of the trash’ between two teams with barely an All-Ireland title between them descended into farce with barely eight minutes played as the Dubs started a mass brawl.

The shame brought to the beautiful game and the country by these two teams falling around the pitch on top of each other is almost beyond words – on the footage we saw there wasn’t a decent punch or kick to be seen anywhere.

Whether it’s on the field or in the court room Ireland’s reputation and image continues to be thrashed by unruly Dubs.

What can be done about the tarnishing of the nation’s credibility abroad? Where could we find a large group of honest, well-behaved, sophisticated, good-looking citizens with a fantastic sense of humour that could reverse the sullied reputation of the native Irish on the other side of the Atlantic?

What bastion of cultural civilisation could be called upon to help refresh Ireland’s image as a nation of dishonest lawbreaking slaps?

That flight from Cork to Boston cannot come quick enough.
