Julia to Operate on Shandon Mean Time

Julia Will Operate on Shandon Mean Time
Revivals are the theme of the month as CCFC starts its first real week as a kind-of
new club (Cork City FORAS Co-op being a clever way to minimise brand disruption)
and the Swansea-Cork ferry finally sets sail in a few days. If this fashionable
period of revivals continues a pace we might see Sir Henrys or Matty Kiely's
chipper opening their doors again within months.

Right a bit there lads! |
Despite reports to the contrary the alleged delay with the 'Julia' is due to the fact that the ferry will operate not on GMT but on Shandon Mean Time.
SMT is not akin to a different time zone per se but is in fact a different concept of time entirely and depends on the person's perception of time rather than the specifics of a watch or clock.
For example a date
between a couple set for 8pm GMT might result in a Cork male arriving
unapologetically at 8.25pm.
For him this is the most convenient time to arrive and thus this becomes the
equivalent Cork time or SMT. As far as this romantic is concerned he is on time.
Scientists at the CERN laboratory in Switzerland are currently trying to discover a formula for this mysterious gap in the fabric of space time believed to have been first discovered when the clocks of Shandon were observed from the International Space Station.
Governments funding the project say they are running out of patience with CERN which has resulted in top scientists suggesting the project should move to Ringaskiddy where the perception of how long their work has been going on will seem much shorter.
Best of luck to
the highly industrious and patient people behind the new ferry and all the people
at CCFC - the new one of course, not the old one.
