Oktoberfest Beag Competition
8th Sep 2010
Organisers of the Oktoberfest Beag - or Little Oktoberfest, are bringing the
legendary Munich Oktoberfest to Cork to celebrate the 200th birthday of the
original Oktoberfest with a Bavarian themed festival in Cork beginning on Thursday
23rd September and continuing until October 3rd.
Cork will come alive with Bavarian banter as Oktoberfest celebrations transport
Corkonians to the heart of Munich to commemorate this special event with authentic
food, music and entertainment.
The original Oktoberfest was created in 1810 to celebrate the royal Bavarian
wedding of Prince Ludwig and Princess Therese. After 5 days of
celebrations, Prince Ludwig decreed that from then on the festival would run
each year.

Visitors to Oktoberfest Beag are invited to sample real Oktoberfest
culture with the special Paulaner Oktoberfest Brew, one of only six beers permitted
to exhibit at Munich's legendary Oktoberfest.
Paulaner's Oktoberfest Bier is specifically brewed for the event and instantly
recognisable by its golden yellow tones and light, hoppy malt flavour. An authentic
Bavarian-style wheat beer, Paulaner is brewed by the monastic order of St Paolo
that settled in the heart of Munich, Germany in 1634.
Oktoberfest Beag takes place nightly from Thursday September 23rd until Sunday
October 3rd at City Limits on Coburg Stl. The venue is open from 5pm
daily. Entry is free of charge before 9pm and €5 thereafter.
"This is fantastic opportunity to experience the sights, sounds and,
most importantly, the tastes of Oktoberfest, in Cork city", said organiser
Ernest Cantillon.
"We will have Bavarian themed food like bratwurst; the Edelweiss Bavarian
Showband and the special Paulaner Oktoberfest Brew in authentic glasswear."
