Panic, chaos and hysteria gripped Cork yesterday as hurricane Finbarr crashed down on the Rebel County. With winds speeds of over 30 mph and some enormous puddles the city came to complete stand still during evening rush hour. Giant waves crashing against the coast at Myrtlleville an' all. Pure drama like.

Bus drivers, taxi drivers and metro operators legged home as soon as they heard it on the news leaving over 6 million people stranded in Cork city centre. News that high tide might leave only Churchfield above sea level sent locals into a frenzy leaving mobile phone networks jammed for hours preventing people sending crucial smilie texts such as ? and ;-( to friends and family.

Opportunity knocks: giving that new fla from work a piggy back through the floods. She'll owe you one at the Christmas party if ye know what I mean....The River Anglesea and some of its tributaries converge leaving millions of nervous Corkonians trapped in the city centre with the 9pm riot time ticking closer and closer.


Several calls were made by well known public figures to build an ark. Debates raged about whether the ark should just carry passengers or whether it should be a roll-on-roll-off type vessel to include rare species of punto and Honda civic. Planning permission has been sought to build the ark which should be ready for the end of 2005.
