Prendeville Poll Backs Players

Prendeville Poll Backs Rebels
In a shocking result in the Cork hurling stand-off a poll conducted on Neil Prendeville's
morning show on 96FM revealed that over 90% of listeners were in favour
of the 2008 hurling squad.
In a dispute that sees the Cork hurlers refusing to play for a third season
under Gerald MacCarthy, public opinion was known to be even more divided than
last year's footballers' stand-off with Teddy Holland.
The weight of Gerald MacCarthy's undoubted service to Cork as a player has made it difficult for many Cork fans to side with the hurlers despite MacCarthy's failure to reach an All-Ireland final in his two years in charge - as well as having players reveal a litany of embarrassing training techniques.
However, Neil Prendeville's startling text poll pulled in a staggering 2,910 votes in favour of the hurlers while just 309 sided with the Cork County Board and its proposed management.
A march will be held in support of the Cork players on Saturday February 7th - leaving Emmet Place (outside Cork Opera House) at 3pm.
