Lonehort Battery is the largest of seven gun batteries which were constructed on Bere Island by the British Admiralty to protect its fleet which lay at anchor in Berehaven. Island historian Barry Hanley will lead visitors on a tour of this huge moated fort, and outline the reason for its construction. This event is part of the Bere Island Military Heritage Festival which will take place on Saturday 16th and Sunday 17th September.
