Welcome to Cork, Indians

PROC & Garreth Joyce

Albert Street (& also College Road)

Although small in number the Indian community in Cork is strong and makes a big contribution to the city. Many Indians come to study at University College Cork and end up living here long term when they are finished their education. For this piece we imagined a unique Cork-Hindu God with it's multiple arms (which signifies their greater power over humans). In Cork, our super-human hurlers are famed for the mesmerising speed with which they play their sport. God like, indeed. There is also a copy of this box on College Road at the junction with Highfield Avenue and Jail Cross Road. The text says 'Welcome To The People's Republic of Cork'. In association with ReImagineCork.
