We imagined what it would have been like if Luciano Pavarotti had moved to Cork at some stage during his life. Instead of booming out operatic classics, maybe he would have found himself singing local folk tunes instead - like one of the city's most famous songs The Boys of Fairhill
Long before he became a household name around the world, Luciano Pavarotti actually visited Cork in 1957 and performed at the International Choral Festival as part of the choir Corale Gioachino Rossini. It was probably the making of him!
The text in Italian says 'Welcome to Cork Italian friends'. The text in the speech bubble in English says "Here's up 'em all says the Boys of Fairhill" - a well known Cork City folk song.
