Welcome to Cork, Nigerians

PROC & Tom Doig

South Mall

This is one of our most popular street art pieces and we were delighted when it went viral on social media especially among the Nigerian community in Ireland.

The text reads 'Every Fela Is Welcome in Cork'. Fela Kuti was an Nigerian musician who was outspoken about the effects of British colonialism in his country and the governments that followed. He also made some pure daycint choons and has a small but strong fanbase here on Leeisde!

Many Nigerians have made Cork their home in the last two decades and we warmly welcome them. Read the full story about this box here.

The text on the back of the box says 'Welcome to Cork' in two of Nigeria's most popular languages, Yoruba and Hausa, as well as English and Irish.
