Created on Day 18 of Russia's invasion of Ukraine, this is a message of support to Cork's Ukrainian population and to refugees arriving from that country.
The cyrillic text on top says 'Welcome to Cork' in Ukrainian.
The lower text is in the Irish language and says "Welcome to Páirc Uí Kyiv", this is a pun on the name of the local sports stadium called "Páirc Uí Chaoimh". The last word 'Chaoimh' is pronounced the same as 'Kyiv'.
This is where Cork play their 'home' games and is a reminder to encourage people living in Cork to make our city and county, feel like a 'home' for Ukrainians arriving here.
