Cork Footballers

Clearly a fine day fan...Will go to games once Cork are competing at Div 1 level again...plenty of them on the hurling scene aswell
There will be plenty folk from Cork in Killarney next Saturday who don't go to any league games.

I don't blame Pontipine for this viewpoint, as he says the GAA can't market their games properly. This was highligted by journalist Diarmuid O'Flynn many a time back the years.

The way Paddy Hughes fixed a draw for the establishment and Kerry in 2015 should be sickening even if you weren't from Cork as Joe Brolly stated on TV that day, however the rest didn't want to know! Shortly before then I was at 2 drawn games in Killarney, Cork won the replay of one rather easily in the Pairc on a Saturday night the week the O'Se's father passed away. AFAIR one drawn game was played in election year and a lot of politicians ascended there, they got Garda escorts to the Disabled Parking area in Dalton's Avenue and Disabled people with car passes for that vicinity were told park in the town. This is scandalous but generally the GAA don't want to know when it comes to access for Disabled or Elderly people with limited mobility.

Also not all genuine supporters want to be bored with the way games are played now in their own half over and across the field. It is not what some of us grew up to in supporting our county teams in paricular. I have been going to matches since 1974 and to Killarney since the 80's up to the middle of the last decade but I won't be there next Saturday.

If it came to pass that it was needed, would you be on the lookout for an All Ireland Final ticket down the line, or have you given up on the sport and found other outlets?

You wouldn’t start Powter ?
CORK4SAM- Never said I would not start him, just suggesting a different option at #11. Not his natural position imo. Better options there for this game, think he effects the game more coming from his more natural position. As a matter of interest where would you play him.

jams

If I hadn't attended any inter-county games that year I certainly wouldn't be looking for an AI ticket.

I've not given up on the sport and in many ways I'm still addicted but I attend a lot less football as I live in a hurling hub. I attend less of both at adult level because of the way their played and reffed now compared to when I grew up. I attend more games at juvenile level in both club and county e.g. last year I attended 4 out of the 6 Cork minor hurlers championship games and a lot more club juvenile matches.
