Damn. Many a Wednesday afternoon/early evening was spent in there getting some soakage for the upcoming night out. No place like it in Cork, really. Please let this just be a rumour....

Anyway, Calypso's was a far classier teenage hang out spot. A bit of Cork died when they closed that place.

heard the final nail was the massive increase in rent that the landlord wanted.

ya it's true, tis closing alright,,,, had many great nights in there, was good friends with the staff,, even worked a couple of shifts there myself when they were stuck, , I must say the staff and manager there were all good people, who really made the place,,, tis a shame to see it go

Calypso's was the job. There was some lasher of a French fella working in there one summer (95, I think, maybe). Teenage dreams like.

A novel approach, business opportunity is to roam Patricks street etc with a tank of really nice coffee on your back and little cups on strings for patrons. Euro a fix.
