We have the 3rd highest spend on health in the OECD and poor outcomes due to mismanagement and not in A&E or the wards etc as the frontline staff are doing their very best.

The NCH is under construction and being fitted out for a 2025 opening so it has in fact been "built" and is just being finished.

NOBODY is suggesting we spend all the money Statty. It's not a binary situation! The issue is there are clearly a lot of problems in our society today that could be alleviated by investing much more of our money in it today, rather than virtue signaling about "rainy day funds" and "preparing for the future" many years hence.

NCH is indeed under construction, and it has been for many years, at the cost of billions, and to date not one single patient has been treated there because GFFG governments want it all to come on line at once, instead of one department at a time.

Meanwhile we have children with unspeakable ailments not being treated despite honeyed words, political sound-bytes, and broken promises. That you'd actually have the absolute gall to claim "it has in fact been "built" and is just being finished." tells just how much of the Blueshirt koolaid you've been drinking you utter clown.

No you bluebot muppet - build the hospital in phases! We didn't have the building capability of building it all in one fell swoop in the country (as evidenced for years since). Big building firms frequently build in phases so that they can move their plant and personnel onto Phase II and III etc

Our government in its wisdom demanded it all be brought on line together, when neither BAM, nor anybody else in the country, had the wherewithal to achieve that size of a build in the schedule allotted.

BTW, you're now saying it's "a partially built hospital" and your previous post you claimed "it has in fact been "built" and is just being finished."

The actual build ( the visible construction ) is the easy part, the real work only starts when the construction is finished.

I happen to know someone who is very high up in a different company who were asked to come in and try salvage the utter mess that BAM oversaw.

I'll not name them but there are few enough companies in that space so it should be quite easy for you to verify. They came in, ran the numbers, and agreed to get the whole project across the line on a tight budget - it would have been good PR for them so they weren't going to charge over the odds.

When the proposal was put to Paschal he said no. My buddy said he was shocked at PO'D effectively cutting off his nose to spite his face on a project that everybody wants to get completed now.

My pal would be a pretty big supporter of one of the Govt parties btw but he said he couldn't get over POD's attitude.
