Sinn Fein are not a Normal Political Party

Hospitals like pharma plants are not like hotels and factories.

The actual build ( the visible construction ) is the easy part, the real work only starts when the construction is finished.

And anyone who thinks it can be brought online department by department is delusional ( and if in power fucking dangerous )

Are you seriously trying to tell us that pharma plants are never built in phases??

BAM did not have the physical capability of doing it all in one go. As has been seen by the hugely escalating costs and the years of delay in the build.

And anyone who think historical facts borne out by evidence is self-delusional - an extremely dangerous trait.

The commissioning and fit out of all the integrated systems in medical facilities is just huge and largely unseen.

Remember Volunteer Sound_y just wants the Government to just simply build houses and not to worry about building standards or regulations like in the 1980's

I happen to know someone who is very high up in a different company who were asked to come in and try salvage the utter mess that BAM oversaw.

I'll not name them but there are few enough companies in that space so it should be quite easy for you to verify. They came in, ran the numbers, and agreed to get the whole project across the line on a tight budget - it would have been good PR for them so they weren't going to charge over the odds.

When the proposal was put to Paschal he said no. My buddy said he was shocked at PO'D effectively cutting off his nose to spite his face on a project that everybody wants to get completed now.

My pal would be a pretty big supporter of one of the Govt parties btw but he said he couldn't get over POD's attitude.

Any journalist would be all over this under the freedom of information act etc. and it should be very easy to verify if it happened.

All projects are built in phases.

Hospitals are not opened in phases for obvious to everybody but focking you reasons.

BAM are one of the biggest construction companies in Europe and agreed to build it in phases as per the agreed building program and contract.

They even had 9 tower cranes there at one point.

😆 Soundy you're like one of those mad spazzers on facebook with 3241 online friends.

I've never heard of someone with as many friends with connections as you! Fair play

He always knows somebody connected to any given situation and who always agrees with him 100%.

Especially in things that never even happened.

Don't always agree with him, and certainly not 100%. I don't even like his favourite political party.

Hey, if you think it never happened I can live with that. I know otherwise, gave you the benefit of what I was told. If you don't want to take it on board that's on you, not me.

I seriously am.

Each phase is a different building, and normally is to ramp up production or for a different process / product.

They do not build plants in phases that don't have the capability to complete the process they were intended for.

The problem with the NCH is BAM and the HSE bean counters.

You do know that hospitals can have different buildings don't you, and that increased space allows the ramp up in number of patients that can be dealt with. Nobody is suggesting building a quarter of each department. Build the critical departments required across all surgeries first. Then accomodation for extra wards can be built subsequently along with more specialised units.

And the Minister refusing to sign off to try salvage something from the mess was also a contributory factor of why we are where we are today with still no patients being treated there many years, and many billions of Euros on. But don't worry Statty tells us that "it has in fact been "built" and is just being finished.

Latest guestimate is 2025 - wonder how much "teething problems" will be excused after the years of over-run

Will the Govt hold on until the NCH is opened - will it be opened if if it's not quite finished but can be covered up with "teething problems"?
